The French system for reporting incidents like this doesn't record ethnicity so there's a general belief that the system is racist and no way to prove that it isn't (or indeed that it is). So nothing gets examined and nothing changes :(

First time I went to Paris with more experienced travellers I was told the police here are not like UK police. They are all armed and if you approach them will assume you mean trouble or are in trouble. In the UK you could ask a street officer for directions, not so in France.

I do wonder if this is a big part of it. Playing as a cosmetic female (as in no difference to gameplay) shows the chuds a world where nobody cares what gender you are. That must feel pretty alien to those who surround themselves with people of a similarly prejudiced world view.
