I think you hit it precisely on the head with your comment about differences in experience. I really feel like people of color do not want to hear comments about race from a white man. Whether that's legitimately how people feel or not, I tend to want to err on the side of caution.

That's a bit of a specious argument you've got there - a cop has to actually witness a crime to investigate or arrest someone? If that were the case then there would be virtually no one in jail.

It is a difficult conversation to have, but she could start by not being all up in arms over what Grande is wearing in that photo. She lives and works in LA. I'm sure her children see much racier attire on their way to the grocery store or to synagogue.

I took piano lessons for a few years as a kid and then had to stop because my Mom had to sell the piano to pay for necessities.
