>At least when Nintendo uses Mario and Zelda over and over, THEY make the games

It does look crushingly gorgeous in HD though, it has to be said. (except the UI, that still looks like crap)

People like to think that these games are only popular because of legions of die-hard irrational fanboy/girls, rather than actually look at their contributions to gaming. The latter half of the 90's were a golden age for gaming, and it's not nostalgia. The games might have been improved upon now, but the jump they

People think consoles are like Highlander where only one can be successful by killing off the others.

I doubt you'll be seeing SNES era HD-ups unfortunately.

The whole post feels like it's trying inciting a console war.

Less ports, more exclusive titles:

I would really rather avoid that same situation.

If it used wifi-hotspots as opposed to GPS, (harder to implement though) that wouldn't be a problem.

" Project X-Zone? That's a Smash Bros.-clone"

Dreamcast doesn't still sell systems though. Same applies for the SNES.

Hmmm..... I can't really see this working with actual products. Maybe something like the 3DS streetpass function, but on a smartphone, where game data is downloaded when you walk past another player or a game store.

See I was careful to use the word "device" and not product there.

My first thought was "this will cannibalise iPad sales".

i devices are very closed devices. No ports, their own OSs, proprietary everything, right down to the way in which you purchase and even upload your own software. If you can imagine the non-technical differences between Console and PC gaming, then i devices function in the same way as consoles.

Get ready for the continued slew of them as Nintendo enter the HD era.

A DLC package that works like the expansion packs of old, are valid and acceptable ways of prolonging the lifespan of a game.

Apple's answer to the Surface would have to pretty much go against everything apple have been trying to do with every device they've made in the last 10 years.

To be fair, at least they don't have to pay what actual copies of the game go for.
