It’s this attitude that contributes to the success of scammers since the victims are often embarrassed to come forward even if they realize what happened.

Yes victims who willingly gave money to strangers, not a gun to their head, or threats of violence or blackmail or anything like that. Just a sad story from some randos with a cute profile pic.

I mean, unless you’re not mentally all there (such as older people who aren’t versed in the internet falling for scams), I really don’t feel bad for them.

Yes it sucks they were scammed, and the scammers who did this are pieces of shit. But I also don’t feel much sympathy at all to the people who were scammed.

It’s possible to live in a world where you can both blame the perpetrators of scams, and also have little sympathy for the victims of said scams. These people weren’t senile grandparents who were threatened out of their money.  A little bit of critical thinking goes a long way.
