There’s a curve merging highways near me. It’s raised and very well banked. I can usually take it at 70-80, even though the posted is 40. That said, I often get stuck behind people doing 30 around it because curves are scary. Thankfully they made it 2 lanes recently, so this has become less of an issue.

So, in the US, it’s supposed to be a “I would like to pass” or “You may merge ahead of me” signal, or simply “turn on your lights”, context depending. That said, it is rarely used. We have a very bad problem with left lane (passing lane) squatters (at least we do where I am).

I swear, people forget everything as soon as they have the license. Very few people anywhere know what flashing your lights means in context these days. I’m lucky if it’s 5% here in AZ. They don’t. In fact, it pisses some people off quite badly when you flash the brights at them. People are taught to drive (kinda) and most aren’t taught the general rules of the road / courtesy protocols.

You’re quite lucky. I’ve had pretty awful luck, and (stupidly I know) spent money, and still not gotten the 4* unit that I want from the event. I don’t really care about the 5*.

Honestly, the power levels are fine, but there are a few nuances they don’t explain well. Also, the AI is super dumb unfortunately. They don’t do complete attack combos often, if at all, and they just stand around and get hit quite often. Get a few healer friends and/or build up a healer and it helps.

Nope. Unless something has changed, I can just drop unlocked files on the reader over USB. I have a ton of books already. AFAIK I can always buy a book elsewhere and use Calibre to purge the DRM if necessary.

My ex wife had to warranty 3 of them, because the screens kept crapping out in them. Conversely, I’ve only had the one Paperwhite for several years now. She did miss the text to speech feature though when she finally gave up.

I mean...my paperwhite has 1 button. What more does it need?

If I had any use for a full on tablet, I’d consider something like an iPad. That said, the matte screen of the Paperwhite makes it a much better reader in my experience. I’m still on a first gen one myself, and I’m strongly considering this as an upgrade.

That was only on the 2010 model unfortunately. That said, they had a different color almost every year. Offhand, I recall a Magenta, Inferno Orange, and a beautiful emerald green on the 2015 special editions.
