Don’t forget skeletons and zombies! Nothing like DR against weapon types on super low CR creatures (ok it’s not really an issue since 5e, but still)
Of course. The only reason I mention it is because people like to point out really small countries and go “but look at X!”. There isn’t much that’s comparable in terms of scale.
Sure. Most people don’t keep a copy of the database on their PC though. Why are you copying the entire DB to your PC to do work? Do you not have a test environment on a server somewhere? Making calls to a database should not pull the entire thing to your PC... Moving that much data on a regular basis does make you an…
I do not miss those voices. At a few points I was fighting so many of them my sound started glitching out because they were all yelling and clipping over each other. If you got 4 or 5 at once it was super annoying.
And frankly I think you’re overestimating. 3 Mbps isn’t fast, but it’s enough to get work done over. Most files your average worker is moving around are going to be things like documents and spread sheets. These are not typically large files (though I’ve seen some impressive excel files). You don’t need much bandwidth…
IIRC, the big shit talk was regarding their aluminum beds. Chevy’s beds are still steel.
Of course there are outliers. It’s literally impossible to make everyone happy. That said, for most, and again I reiterate, MOST users 3 Mbps up is fine. Should we as consumers be content with just that? no, but most people don’t telecommute. Most people do not do a lot of uploading.
Did you even read my post? I said it’s enough to work. Not that it’s what we really need. I use speeds well above 25/3 that on a daily basis. Regardless, it should be passable for most people, even if it’s not great. Remember that this sets a baseline to call a service “broadband”. It should encourage ISPs to upgrade…
Ooof yeah. They really need to upgrade their service. CenturyLink around me has been offering 40Mbps/5 up for about....4 or 5 years now.
I’m having to sell my house due to divorce, and it sucks because I’ve lost my gigabit fiber. Place I am now is just 80/20 pair-bonded DSL. When I buy a place for myself, I may (will) look into what it will cost me to get fiber to the house. If it’s only a few grand I’ll do it in a heartbeat.
I’m not denying that it’s a nice feature, and in fact the XB1 does it well. It’s not that nobody cares about it, but rather that most don’t. There’s also a point at which it becomes unfeasible to carry forward.
Oh, certainly. Like I said, most people don’t need it. I certainly need it. I work IT and when I need to VPN in from home, a higher upload speed makes like much easier. Your average user just consumes with a few uploads here or there to the likes of facebook and youtube however.
Yup. It’s annoying as shit.
Yeah I wish it was more like that here in the US. Ironically, my house was in the boonies a bit too. Here in town best I’m able to get where I’m at is 80/20 bonded pair DSL. Once I get my affairs in order, wherever I end up I may try paying to get fiber fun to my house.
And I had 1G/1G fiber at my last house for ~$150/m (that is being sold because I’m getting divorced. God I miss that speed). Canada may be large, but a lot of the population is located in a few key areas.
I’ve always had DSL (local cable company SUCKs around here) and never had any issues, but again location matters.
Frankly? Less bureaucracy and less “we own these lines, you can’t use them”. A major hold up has been local laws and contracts. IMO, to say it was a simpler time would be appropriate.
Of course not, but who’s going to make them do it? the FCC? There needs to be a major Fiber rollout, but because of both bureaucracy and cost, it hasn’t happened.
It’s really not, but it’s enough to get things done. It’s enough for about 5 different video streams at 1080p, and to browse the web at an acceptable rate. Most people don’t even need the upload speed really.
