Big Docent Energy
Yeah, where’s this hate for the Explorer, Durango, etc? They’re all equally boring large SUVs that people buy because they don’t want to be caught dead in an Odyssey or Sienna.
Beautifully written, thanks. As a older gen x (50) and rode motorcycles for over 25 years. I am done. Tired of the maintenance, storage and expense but mostly tired of nearly getting hit EVERY SINGLE time I rode some idiot nearly cutting me off and nearly hitting me, usually on the phone while they are driving. I live…
It would be interesting to see how much market research has gone into whether or not buyers actually exist anymore. It may not be so much that people are turning away from Harley, as it is that people are turning away from motorcycles and Harley is just taking the biggest hit.
“I don’t know the first thing about Harley, but I assumed that they were at least kinda bullet proof.”
They’re also in a red-hot segment with cash on the hood. All the people unwilling to pay over list for a RAV4 hybrid or a Palisade/Telluride (Paluride?) must be heading straight for the GM dealership. When two models with the same official MSRP are priced upwards of ten grand apart due to ADM vs incentives, that makes…
If by “bulletproof” you mean “you’ll spend as much time wrenching as you do riding”, you are 100% correct. Remember their motto:
Maybe they should be the Lamborghini of motorcycles. Ostentatious and insane without feeling so old and sad by sticking to the same formula forever.
Both the Traverse and Enclave are good solid vehicles. Because you don’t like them doesn’t make them bad.
I laugh but I’m also wondering what the difference is between a Traverse and an Explorer that makes the Traverse the subject of ridicule? Or is that just a general anti-SUV stance manifesting itself in its GM form by the writer?
Those first two prerequisites have been their Achilles heel for 40yrs
Put it to you this way: I’m not taking it off.
Is the bed cover there for structural integrity?
You're a treasure and Jalopnik should pay you more money
Dear David,
actually, maybe a little reverse psychology..
What wires are crossed in your brain? How do you even keep track of your registrations and insurance at this point?
Hitting a speedbump at 15 mph should take care of that problem.
David you ought to do a expose of some of the shit you see in Detroit traffic... pieces of cars missing (entire panels, bumpers, etc), cars with all the windows broken covered in plastic, cars with no lights, cars with wheels and axles so broken that you see visible obvious wobbles... etc.
I think I’ve seen WWII shipwrecks with less rust. Fuck, this makes the Titanic look like it was just has minor rust in the arches.
