The top picture looks like a Shay locomotive.

FWIW, UP844 is the ONLY steam locomotive in the US which has never been ‘retired’; it has been on the active roster with UP since it was built.

Thanks for showing us this Jalopnik. The biggest steam locos are insane machines. They actually come close to the maximum power of modern locos.
I’m not surprised at the number of backups for checking the water level. No one ever wants to be part of this

Just gotta remember to keep water in that boiler at all times.

Your forgot to open the cylinder drains when setting off after sitting stationary for a while. Now you’ve blown the ends off of the cylinders due to hydro-lock.

What year do you think this was actually filmed in? The graphics make me wanna say early mid 90s, but the old passengers you see towards the end always dress like that no matter the year and I didn’t see any cars.

If this actually happens, please livestream the grand opening.  I give you about 4 minutes before you start to hyperventilate.  Plus, when you pass out, the people watching can call for help.

I was going to post this review as well. I also liked, from The Playlist, “Once Tom Hooper’s 110 minutes of Cats are over, theater is dead. And we unchosen ones are left, tragically to continue living.”

Of course it's for the clicks. His literal job is to tell stories on the internet. So if he just wrote "I bought a car, put it on a trailer, towed it home, and nothing eventful happened," nobody would read it.

But that wouldn't be the blog version of a Roadkill episode.

I always wished they would build the Tahoe to take on the Land Cruiser, but all their built to take on is boat ramps and children.

Having an “advanced driver assistance” system that is JUST good enough to drive the car right up until the moment it can’t is idiotic. Humans are not wired to work very well in that sort of situation.

That’s why I hope there is some jail time in this “driver’s” future. This kind of willful disregard for everyone’s safety can’t be dealt with lightly. It should be no different than a DUI (which still isn’t punished like it should be).

I so did not like MWO at all, I really tried to get into it several times and each time it just felt wrong. Right now 5 looks like all it is MWO but replacing the online part with bots, if the campaign turns out to be crap I am just going to totally write the game off.

Agreed... I was super hyped for the announcement bc I’ve been hoping for a great MW game (MW3 was an incredible experience for me way back when...) but all the vids thusfar make the effort look pretty low-rent

As much as I hate to say it, I think I’m going to wait on Mechwarrior 5 until the reviews come in. So far what I have seen on  Twitch streams of the game have been pretty under whelming. I just hope what I’ve seen has just been place holder stuff and the full release will be better.

Make sure you hit them directly or they will made into Unitarians.

I find the whole basic idea that Razer would be in the ‘Most Innovative Companies’ on a Fast Company scale strange. The company’s run like the 1800s, and what have they actually ‘innovated’ recently other than even stupider lighting, their dumb digital currency, and PewDiePie branded headphones (It’s real, I shit you
