but this whole situation will eat Trump alive.

“For booooty-ful, for speeee-cious guys, his amber waves’ Rog-aaaaaine....”

True, but that’s absolutely not how that letter would have been worded if the primary concern was simply informing the women that there’s no way to refuse to do the inauguration. The phrasing “invalid,” “ranting of the public,” “you should consider it an honor,” “this country will not survive if it remains divided”

Wow... That actually sums up Trump really well.

So, one of the most important political events in history will be treated as a goddamn reality show and ego boost for the orange-elect. Well, he’d better enjoy the fuck out of it, because he’ll become bored as fuck once it’s time to get to work.

Yes, but given the entertainment world’s UNIVERSAL disdain for performing at Trump’s inauguration, I don’t think many folks in talent management would take a negative view of the action.

A reality TV star loser, a Mormon religious choir, and a group of women forced to work with the threat of a lawsuit.

As I understand it from commentary other places, the non-full-time seasonally contracted Rockettes can decline to perform (and quit), but if they do it’s likely to be a black mark on their record that will follow them in a highly competitive profession with like 1% employment.

If Hillary had won she wouldn’t haven’t needed to do this. People would have been lining around the block to play for her inauguration. Who wouldn’t want to perform for the the inauguration for the first woman president of the United States? You would have made the history books.

“Ooops, I’m sorry Mr. President. Did that hurt?”

Yeah, that’s really what I was getting at. I’ve never seen such an adversarial relationship between a union leader and the members. Since the members, you know, ARE the union.

It’s contract adherence, which is arguably a good thing. He’s just being a huge dick about it. A good union leader would have said something like, “I understand your frustrations. I’ve looked over our bargained contract, and unfortunately there are no loopholes on this one. We’ll be talking with management over the

Agreed, I would just think that their contract would have some type of out clause whereby the women would not have to perform for an admitted serial sexual assaulter.

OMFG I didn’t even think of that, but I fucking LOVE the optics of 12 young women dancing rather than the 42 that would be there for any other big event. Anyone who watches morning fluff pieces will be able to see what a poor showing it is.

So the owners aren’t thinking beyond Jan 20th? Because this sounds like a terrible business decision. On top of the appalling treatment of women on behalf of a man who has shown he has no respect or care for women, who aren’t his daughter Ivanka.

Eh, I don’t know. If they have an employment contract that was bargained, then they have to adhere to the contract. The union does have an obligation to inform them of the fact that the employment contract allows the employer to terminate them if they refuse to do a booked event.

This...isn’t how unions are supposed to work.

They should take a knee.
