@CaffeineCarlton: To answer your question with a question - why did Microsoft develop Windows Media Center?
I'd been comparing the use of plugins with Play On (noted on Lifehacker on October 27, 2008. I hadn't really considered Play On because I didn't like the thought of having to have both the xbox and the "living room laptop" on just to watch tv.
@dchall8: Not every tool has to be a Swiss Army knife.
Stories like this are why, once I learned of its existence, I stored all sensitive data in a Truecrypt volume. If my PC becomes a hand-me-down, I'm pretty sure that no one's going to read truly private data.
@Dave Effertz: I tried to love xobni. But I found that I used exactly NONE of the neat features it offers.
@majdmash: You and me both. Archaic, aren't we?
@MacGizmo: On my laptop, my Firefox profile is located in an encrypted volume. So I'm not quite as scared about mobile security as I used to be.
@Arphahat: Merging bookmars across computers was problematic for me, with folders not showing or being duplicated.
@wjh31: Duplicate files aren't necessarily a waste of space.
IBM was doing something similar on Thinkpads for years. Lenovo's updated the interface, but the graphics on the taskbar are looking dated.
@SwatLax: But you can dress for 20 below. Where it's hot, you can only undress so far. :)
@Nosgoroth: My apologies if my choice of words was confusing, but it means no such thing.
@dagwud: Plus, I was able to get it in my startup folder, so everything happens automatically when I log into my PC.
I run a batch script at work that mounts a truecrypt volume from a personal external drive, then launches a handful of programs from within that mounted drive.
@bltMN: And mäni interesting furry animals, Including the majestik møøse.
@MrVJTod: You can also use the Keyboard Customizer Utility that Lenovo still distributes to accomplish this.
@aj_robins: One should never assume that a different in opinion or appreciation for a "feature" is the result of a lack of knowledge or understanding.
@virgilstar: You're looking for the wrong missing numbers.
@dagwud: On disappointment is that DriveScan lets me click down through the directories scanned and see a new pie chart. Xinorbis doesn't. But it does so much else.
