I used the QT tools, including TabBar for a while. But then, one day, they just stopped working on my PC. I was never able to get them functioning again.

Depending on the power of one's shredder, this could actually save time. Our shredder breaks the disc into pieces. If I want to recycle the shredded paper or plastic, I've got to keep them separate.

@Tamar Weinberg: Ok. So David Pogue says it's 60 seconds. But that doesn't mean he's right. And even if the shortest setting on a microwave is 30 seconds, that doesn't require one to use the full 30 seconds.

@Tamar Weinberg: Is "60 seconds" a typo? I find the microwave only takes about 6. And a microwave certainly renders a CD more unreadable than damage that can be buffed away.

Ok, that's just something I wish I knew about sooner.

Anyone consider that the MP3 may also become the digital equivalent of the 78RPM album? That is, the format will stick around even if it's only archival.

VOTE: Directory Opus

Why on earth did I delay installing Greasemonkey for so long? Stuff like this is just slicker'n snot on a doorknob!

PortableApps doesn't require PAF files. It uses them to make installation more convenient. Any program that, after extracting from a ZIP archive, will run when you click on the *.exe file will work with PortableApps menu. You just have to refresh the icon list from the options menu.

Life got easier when I started treating my electronic desktop like it was made of wood. Only things on it are files I am working with currently, and they get saved to the server when finished. The desktop doesn't get cluttered.

I had a 1979 VW Superbeetle convertible had fuel injectors, but still had the oil-screen that I had to clean when I changed the oil.

I had neither a seizure nor a headache, but I'm now very glad I made the inquiry! No wonder I check in here several times a day.

@skylife: I'm not encouraging anyone to switch to IE. That was someone else.

Anyone know if it's possible to write a Greasemonkey script to ignore the "blink" tag on web pages?

VOTE: Gnucash, portable or otherwise.

The solar oven idea is great. I remember making a meal with a "camp-made" version as a Scout.

What drives me nuts are family recipes that aren't complete because certain steps are "understood." One of my grandmother's recipes is written on a 3x5 index card, but so much is missing. My dad walked me through the process once, and I took 6 pages of notes on all the "understood" steps.

@mangochutney: Is it wrong to consider buying a Mac just so I can play Frenzic?

Given that MediaPortal started as an offshoot of XBMC, it's a shame that it's not better developed - given the comments here.

I use Google Earth when I need to make a map based on county boundaries. Google Maps doesn't provide that information, so I had to use Google Earth to make my KML file that I then imported for my map.
