I try not to judge them too harshly. What they are going through is so, so painful, and I can understand at least a little that they don’t want to let go, no matter what the doctors say. That said, they needed to face reality, and sooner than now.

True story, I dated a guy who lived down the street from the ice cream truck depot in the West Village. I’m not claiming lying is ethical. I’m saying that according to the ethics of this site, using scare quotes for people whose sexual details have been exposed by hackers is hypocritical.

Using scare quotes around the word “victims” just because of you don’t approve of their sexual practices is simply slut-shaming. It’s jarring to see it in a roundup that also includes sympathetic references to two revenge porn victims. Either you’re pro-slut-shaming or you’re anti. Pick one.
