The argument is forever changing here, isn’t it? First, it was USWNT scored too many points & should have let off the gas. Then, it was USWNT celebrated too heavily. Now, it’s Rapinoe celebrated too much.

They won a friendly not that long ago against Indonesia, 13 - 0.

They weren’t. They were acting like they scored their first goal in their first match at their first World Cup (or in the case of Morgan, steadily approaching tying or setting a record), justifying the years of hard work they’ve put in.

Young female athletes exuberantly celebrating winning their first goals in their first game at their first World Cup for their first appearance on the world stage: “histrionics”.

And what’s the arbitrary amount of goals that occurs? And does that mean that the girls scoring their first goal on the world stage need to do so quietly, from the bad luck of their goal being higher than this number?

Nope, she was only one goal away from tying the record, which see then proceeded to do. HOW DARE SHE CELEBRATE SUCH AN ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Well, the Thailand women’s team had a friendly last year against Indonesia... they won, 13-0. In a friendly.

I’m sure Indonesia’s gloating after the Thai women’s team beat them 13-0 in a fucking friendly.

Would it be an unwritten rule not to score against, say... Indonesia 13-0 during a fucking friendly?

But who gives a shit what they think? This is all about what others think hovering over their laptops & cellphones.

No, people are calling the USWNT a dick. For many of those athletes, this is their first World Cup, their first game on the world stage, and they scored their first goal and went nuts (or in the case of Morgan, tied a record). Who should expect differently?

Would you talk that way to your kids if they worked for years to get to the World Cup & it was their first goal, in their first match?

For many of these athletes, they haven’t experienced the World Cup, let alone scoring. So no. They haven’t ‘been there before’.

What do they need to moderate? Their elation at being at their first (for most of them) World Cup & scoring their first goal? They’ll never have that again.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land on the PS2. It isn’t Wizardry 8 or anything, but it spiritually is a Wizardry game, only with a Japanese aesthetic.
