You apparently haven't read through the comments.

Completely agree.

Same here. I expected people to die & was a bit surprised it was only 1. Also surprised it was this guy.

That's a good call. :) There was a real bad windstorm up here in '06. How bad was it in Portland?

“Who fucking cares what you’d call it?” I suppose an adult response would have made him reconsider his comment?

When I talk to a child, I talk on a level they can understand.

Ahh. I wasn't aware that adult conversation included smug self-righteousness. Thanks for correcting me.

Oof. The 2006 one was much worse, but I think this one was the worst since then. In 2006, I didn't have power for a week (though across the street at Microsoft, they did!!). Fittingly, this time I had power & they lost it for a day. :D

Agreed. But when the soil is soaked & a violent windstorm comes through, more trees fall down & those chances increase accordingly. This is why the mayor of Seattle issued a warning to stay indoors.

10 years ago or so, in a particularly bad windstorm a large branch speared my patio door & destroyed it. When the wind is heavy, I’m nervous walking under those huge fur trees.

Which is more dangerous than wilderness, because forests & other vegetation serve as a windbreak as well as promote soil stability.

If I were to go out in a hurricane & get swept away, I’d be going out in a dangerous situation. The guy didn’t ask for it nor did he deserve it, but placed himself in unnecessary, yet seemingly obvious, danger. It wasn’t just wind; it was gusts that approached hurricane intensity & pointing out the strength of the

Don't douche so hard, guy.

That's actually a pretty impressive line-up.

I'm at work, but I'll try to dig them up when I have a chance. I have to warn that the nature of what's happening is murky &, as you know, we can't always trust Ukrainian & rebel sources. But the picture gets a little clearer when multiple sources on opposing sides are indicating the same thing.

I fucking do, douchebag. STFU & let adults hold a conversation.

I feel bad she had to bear witness to her father’s violent death. :(

Ukrainian forces have advanced near Mariupol.. It has been reported that an assault on Advikka was halted & now militias are complaining that Ukrainian units are advancing into Yatsynuva, threatening the main artery between Horlivka (where significant rebel forces are located) & Donetsk. To the south of Donetsk,

I don’t know if I’d call it a freak accident. Sunday’s windstorm knocked out power for tens of thousands. Schools were closed and/or delayed. The weather service had been warning of gusts from 50 mph - 70 mph. The Seattle mayor issued a warning to stay indoors if need be.

I guess now it’s time for Russia to turn back to Ukraine, particularly since rebels have seen setbacks in recent weeks.
