I have always wondered why does the UAW have the monopoly. Maybe things are different down in the states but my understanding is that any union can be asked/voted to come in.

OTOH as a Southerner who knows people working in some of those plants they are the closest thing to sweat shops in the US you’ll ever see. Just work the people to the bone, wear them out and find more cheap labor when they quit.

A friend’s mother also had an A2, also a 1.4 (I think it had around 75bhp). I rode in it many times enjoying the spaciousness and neat packaging and tidy dimensions.

My mother had an A2. It really was a great car, and incredibly fuel efficient with the 1.4 FSi engine. I think it weighed under 1,000 kg.
