Precisely. They saw the tens of millions of dollars they were leaving on the table by not playing and decided to reverse course.

Now I cannot unsee that.
Maybe they feel like they have a shot at winning LMP1 with limited investment when the competition in that series is pretty thin these days? Could make for some good advertising.
but do you normally report to the police when you believe you’ve hit a deer?
Renault has quietly been alright this year. They don’t quite have the pace of the Mercedes engines but they seem to be quicker and more reliable than last year. McLaren’s doing pretty alright with those Renault power units too.
I was watching the pit lane feed on F1TV and they were saying something about how they had a 4 hour broadcast window in which the race could be raced and even with the lengthy red flag periods weren’t close to reaching that.
While Haas wouldn’t necessarily be a great choice for Perez
HAM-BOT-VER... I’m shocked!
As much or more of a parade than Monaco usually is?
I think this is a nice career move for Seb. He likely doesn’t get a car that can compete for wins, which I guess is kinda true for every team not named Mercedes (or Red Bull, to some extent), but at least it’s a weekly Formula 1.5 contender.

I sincerely hope they can get something solid done, but what can Ford allocate to that facility? I can guarantee the provincial and federal governments…
It doesn’t get any hotter than a mid-90's Volvo.
5th Gear: I wish the Canadian autoworkers luck. After GM killed their Oshawa plant, there’s a bit of a feeling the Canadian auto industry is on shaky ground at the moment. Honda and Toyota (both non-union) seem committed to continuing building in Canada (building the money-printing Civic, CR-V and RAV4 here), and…
Hamilton has been around Monza dozens of times in his career, he should know where those signs are, right? Personally, I just think he wasn’t paying attention or focused on something else and missed them. Simple and innocent as that.
A career lasting nearly a decade in the highest autoracing series in the world isn’t anything of which to be ashamed. He might not be the world’s greatest driver but he’s managed to stick around quite a while, perhaps a lot longer than some of the younger more promising guys who came up and flamed out.
The optics of racing at Sochi are much worse globally than their failure to kneel before a national anthem.
