That belongs in my Saab 96 V4, along with a seriously beefed-up gearbox.

@CmndrFish: I hate the Compass and Caliber but I kind of agree with you about the Patriot. To me it looks a lot like the XJ Cherokee and that's a good thing.

I should take some videos of all of the foolish Louisville, KY drivers this winter. I laugh at them as a I drive by in my Saab with Gislaved snows.

My 1972 Saab 96 that I'm finally bringing home this weekend.

My wife, a very intelligent woman, is convinced that airbags will decapitate short people. I need to share #9 with her.

Great! Now just give us a diesel and a manual and then we'll talk.

@evoCS: Opera windows FTW

Saab 95 V4

Needs more shifter.

There's this "multi-generational" family down the street from me all crowded into a tiny house. Parked out front is a beat-up early'90s Chevy pick-up and a ratty mid-'90s Mustang and Trans-Am and... a Volvo S80. And it belongs to them. It looks just like the one below. I just can't figure that one out, it's a total

@xequar: Ah, the Ascender! I knew I was forgetting one.

The epitome of platform whoring, the "Saab" 9-7x. Also known as the Trailblazer, Envoy, Bravada, Rainier. I'm probably forgetting something else.

@gochomoe: Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. I've never been to a NASCAR race but I'm sure the people watching is pretty great.

@GV_Goat: Mister Rogers had some pretty cool (now) vintage Matchbox cars in his neighborhood.

Wow, something that actually makes NASCAR remotely interesting.

@wkiernan: Meh, not so much, the two-stroke engines tended to foul plugs and blow up, a lot fussier than the four-stroke. You also could never let up on the trottle if you wanted any power at all. The V4 engine is much better suited to real-world use, just don't overtighten the fan belt (it kills the balance shaft

Saab 96 V4. Here's a photo of my 1970 96 from a car meet a few years ago. I put a lot of very reliable miles on this car, including a trip to Kentucky and Massachusetts and back (2000+ miles roundtrip) in the summer of '08. They are very simple and robust cars and the German Ford V4 is bulletproof. A wonderful classic
