no sources are cited, that’s the first clue this is not academia. also, academia happily accepts and creates jargon on the fly.

like slightly less detailed Geoff Darrow with Moebius coloring. looks cool

this is not at all academia...

I guess there are the switches in SMW, and even that is a stretch since they arent permanent abilities you get like in metroid or SotN, but how are other marios metriodvanias? I’d agree that Zelda has metroidvania elements, but it’s not its sole genre.

Yes, abandon a clearly defined term that describes a specific mechanic. Some other things you might want to abolish:

Not at all, it involves gaining new abilities to access parts of the map that you couldnt before. That is the main thing that defines a metroidvania.

and by that extension, Liquid Snake’s there on screen!

you’re missing out :/

It’s so weird to me that a show about butt joke stuff has better animation than a most of Disney’s 2D animation for the last few decades. I’m only about 4 episodes in, but am enjoying the monster of the week kappa stuff, humor, and amazing animation!

In art, if the explicit goal was to communicate a message, they would comment that they can’t see the intent behind your art and tell you to either rework that or better luck next time.

the artist is responsible for doing the art; we are the ones doing the analysis... also Kasia Redesiuk explained a lot more about intent with this work than many artists would (not that authorial intent is necessarily relevant).

i honestly wouldnt be surprised if microsoft paid nintendo for this as advertising for potential future games

Thats weird. My volca drums (several years old now) sounds really clean and crisp. The modular is very fun, though kinda opaque. I have figured out some pretty cool sounding patches, but mostly through trial and error since I don’t completely understand how it works haha (have had it for less than a month). it’s
