Except 1976 beats it by a hair. In ‘77 at least Chevrolet brought back the Z28 Camaro with some actual performance dialed in (to a degree).

All of these are for the 1%, except the Miata (which is still pretty expensive for a 130hp car)

70s are too easy. I can’t pick one year, but ‘97-99 were a really terrible time for cars in North America.

Honestly, I’m going to say 1992. While other years had bad performance cars, at least they had performance cars that, for their day, were... okay they were still pretty terrible. But, they were there. People could get excited about them. You still had terrible quality control, and the fastest cars were also ticking

Miata. Ford GT. GT350R. Viper ACR. Corvette Z06. M235i. S3. MKVII GTI.

You are....

Yeah, it is close. But in ‘75 you could still get a Corvette convertible, and a 454 in the full-size Chevys.

This GTfO would like to have a talk with you

The early 2000’s? Have you seen what we have now compared to 15 years ago? 400+hp pony cars, the best Miata ever made, hybrid hyper cars that will melt your face off, electric cars that make over 700hp and can go 250 miles on a charge, less reliability issues across the board, Cayman GT4, I mean the list goes on and

290 horsepower? Try 210 horsepowerr. The 8.2 L / 500 C.I V8 in the 1974 Eldorado made 210 horsepower at the crank and 380 ft lbs of torque - enough to push the car to 60 mph in about 11 seconds.

Definitely 1976.

1974, without a doubt. Companies were just barely learning how to deal with regulations, and it resulted in abysmal American cars.

You could say 1974. It was the first year of the post-musclecar era. Sure there were still Corvettes and Trans-Am's and Roadrunners but they were sad imitations of the former models. 1974 was also the year that most chrome bumpers were morphed into plastic and emission controls choked a 455 cubic inch behemoth into

BMW making FWD 4 banger faux-SUV with a slushbox...

Shame on you, with these stupid comparisons. My poor sweet aunt Irenes daughters best friend has been looking for a Hyundai and she just called me saying that she was buying a viper after reading that it was better than a Hyundai and it didn't have an engine so what engine would be best for her to get for less than

For some of us the nights and weekends wrenching on it are something we enjoy and not time lost. And forget shipping, that’s why I have a trailer and a pickup, maybe it will be a fun road-trip going to get it also.

I’ll sell you my 02 Viper for less than the price of this used Hyundai and it comes with an engine and clean title!

...and that’s the difference between Car Buying and The Garage. Welcome, the ratchets are on the right. ;)

Not gonna lie, I actually like the look of the poverty-spec Bentley better than the real Bentley in this article.
