Season 1 Kira was originally intended to be Ro Laren. The actress couldn’t commit for some reason and they changed the name and some backstory elements, cast Nana and left it at that since a lot of the season was already written.

As there’s only one character of Asian descent in in the series outside of a flashback they should be able to get their “draw” names and still cast Mikasa accurately.
