I think the bad idea is City government funding a private company’s R&D. If they want to test and dig tunnels somewhere that’s fine, but to bring an unproven idea and asking millions (or billions) from a city just to prove your theory is something quite different.
Probably because of increased safety regulations and increased worker pay. Takes longer to get started, to do the job and you really can’t finish before the estimated time because it’s a union contact that says it’ll take x amount of years.
GM stands behind their vehicles being used on the track as long as it’s not used ”competitively”, as in an actual timed track race and it’s not a modified vehicle. There’s threads about this on the GM forums that are easy to find.

From experience, if you have a car you love and then bought a house, just buy a beater truck for Home Depot runs. That way you can keep the car you really enjoy.
What if people are getting these to meet their current needs and later when that changes the lease will be up and they can get another car?

You can use a mortgage calculator to find out the actually difference, I’ve used it in the past and the difference between a 15 year fixed and making the 15 year payments on a 30 year fixed was about 4k on a $120k mortgage.
