For whatever reason I still don’t have the sirius app set up, but I understand if you do, you can listen to Drew’s show on demand. They’ll put the playlist up on twitter too if you want to get a feel for his style.

Pulling into a huge parking lot (say, something like Costco). As the driver, you’re scanning all over and also hyper aware that there’s lots of cars, people, carts, etc. So having your passenger just make a mild gesture and say “there’s a spot over there” is USELESS. And godforbid you don’t immediately turn that…
Drew Carey’s Friday night show (8-11PM) on Underground Garage is OUTSTANDING. He’ll play some deep and obscure stuff from all over. There’s still some well known stuff thrown in so it’s not all off the wall stuff. But if you like Buried Treasure, you’ll almost certainly like Drew’s show.
The going-used route would have worked out for me, but with the crazy market, low mileage ones are going for as much or more than new (lots in the $27-31K range with 20-40K on them).
I have also have a 12 yr old, so there’s a chance when the current dude goes to college, a 2.0T 6MT still can work in the equation as we…
So bummed they killed the 6MT. My kid turned 15 this year...since 2017 I had a whole perfect plan to buy a new 2.0T 6MT this year and give him my car. Still possible, but need to go used rather than basically order one for delivery.
There’s nothing *super* special about it, but I really appreciate that it exists: Toyota Corolla Hatchback 6MT. It’s on my short list of next purchase now that there’s no longer a 6MT Accord.
I think two typos in here. FYI
“The new docuseries sees producer Rick Rubin interviewing the formal Beatle about his long and stories career”
I don’t think you need the indirectly qualifier on Tata. They make cars, trucks, buses on their own (remember the Tata Nano?). They’re not just a holding company for JLR.
Good idea! I know of somebody with a Toyota Van made up like the Transformer Ratchet. He has the proper red lights on it, but when he’s on the road, has these vinyl “out of service” covers for it. Usually just takes the cover off for car shows/photo ops and such.
more people than seats + crazy speed is rarely going to end well. a shame.
I don’t mean to sound super callous, but if the driver is who survives and the two deaths are those who shoe-horned in without belts, that person should go away for a long, long time (perhaps for life)
Yup! Glad to see this. Mitsubishi & Yamaha immediately come to mind for most people, but Tata is flippin massive.
They have a relatively small motorsports presence through Jaguar, but I would love if they pushed a bit more. There’d be so many B2B relationships and what not. In a perfect world, they would have been…
*brake. i know the source had the typo initially, though. but perfect chance to use a “[sic]”.
Agree. The two of them together make a good team. Good questions (maybe not super deep, but set up great stories) and usually funny. If absolutely nothing else, this is one of the only podcasts to talk to these folks and hear from them in their twilight years. And you can tell there’s respect from Gilbert & Frank. I…
Even in a post-COVID world of 2022 or 2023, I’m not opposed to a doubleheader here or there throughout the year. It’s a good way to get an extra race AND save costs on travel. It probably helps towards that whole carbon footprint too.
Ideally, they rotate a the doubleheader between a handful of tracks. So Austria would…
Let’s take it up on oppo :)
Athletic shorts are fine too. I’m partial to cargos for carrying stuff, but adidas basketball shorts are comfy as hell.
heck yes. Unless you’re towing something big or frequently hauling large stuff (e.g., mulch), the enclosed cargo space in a minivan is so helpful. And driving a comfy and reasonably powerful vehicle is also nice. My kids range from 8-15 right now. I can see our current van (sitting at 70K) soon turning into the…
We had some printed up but they ended up getting used as rags to deal with messy kids :)
Current uniform is cargo shorts and a T shirt of your choosing...ideally one that’s trying to show you’re still cool (my current example has the Planet Express logo on it)
You’re doing it right.
Very much this. I’m 100% team minivan...even for just 2 kids. They make so much sense. A small fun car + minivan is the perfect 2 car garage IMO.
