Yah, that model (or something near it) makes total sense.  It’s not terribly different than car companies flying the journalists to some fancy retreat with great food and entertainment and some cool test drives/track time all in return for a car review.  I’m not at all in this world, but it sure seems like that’s the

Does anybody know what kind of money rural mail carriers make? That can’t be such a well paying job that shelling out $40K for your work vehicle makes sense.

In looking at that cool postalpete dealership in a another comment, there are lots of pricey RHD vehicles in there.  I guess I just don’t get the economics.

My memory is foggy, but I think the Honda Accord wagon fell in here too.

I’m honored to have made the list. Though I feel conflicted its at the expense of some Citroen wackiness. Whatever...I’ve had previous answers (at least some of which popular) that I felt were a lock and missed out.

Ever since Car and Driver dubbed it the pregnant dash, I can’t see the Previa any other way.

Sorry - refueling is off the table regardless. I just meant I couldn’t compare a hypothetical tires only change in F1 with one per wheel vs a tires+fuel stop from the CART way.

I agree - it’s political. If it was truly about safety, they’d go to fewer people. It blows me away F1 still puts 12+ people in the box!

I mentioned in another comment about CART, but I’ll make it again here. There’s a safety component to fewer people “over the wall” and in harm’s way. Maybe F1 should consider 1 or 2 people per wheel not 3. Back in the CART days one dude would handle each wheel. And the back right (typically) crew member wouldn’t be in

That’s a good point. There’s trade-offs and such to be made. We have usually have the Odyssey EX (one step up from base with power sliders, but no other toys).  At least in Odyssey & Sienna world, the base model isn’t a massive penalty box.

Base minivan is the right answer here. Yes, some of those bells and whistles are nice, but then you also have all those people who complain “minivans cost $50K?!”

We love to talk about the hypothetical stipper pick up truck....same applies to minivans.  All the utility is still there!

That’s a fair point.  He definitely dialed things down to appeal to a bigger audience at CBS.  Though I still feel a milder Dave is still 3x more interesting than Jay.

I’ll trust Letterman’s general assessment that Leno was a good standup in the 70s and early 80s. But once he got that network gig, became straight up warm milk to keep everybody happy. Truly a “safe” comedian that wasn’t funny for fans of comedy. Not to get all judgy, but I think the older and mainstream/simple

I think CART had a great model for pitstops by limiting the number of “over the wall” crew. First and foremost, it was safer as you had fewer dudes standing in pit box as the car came in. Second, tires were laid out and the wheel man had to take off the old wheel AND put on the new wheel. None of this 3 person per

Like most of you, I haven’t been watching the Simpsons as much obviously. A few years ago I heard Marge for the first time in a long time and I really feared Julie Kavner was ill.

30 years on, I guess it does make sense their voices would be a lot more “thin”.

Oh man the Infiniti M is so great!  I have an irrational love of those.  Go for that black one, tint the windows, and pretend you’re in the Yakuza!

So two questions really:

For what it’s worth on #4, he has touched on that in his podcast. He said how he used to come out and do this massive warm-up and use up so much energy. He’d almost be out of breath when the show finally started. He’s talked about how that was crazy he’d basically do a whole untelevised show for the house crowd and

That Eagle is a goddamn masterpiece.

Even though I should have known it was coming, it still didn’t occur to me until a few moments after he mentioned there was clip of dress....almost got me after all these years!

I watched Reno 911 as soon as it came up and enjoyed it. The shorter run time, while different, wasn’t so bad. It basically meant there was just an A story and not moving between an A/B or even C story. No complaints and happy to have more of those characters :)

What did everybody else like or recommend?

I’m not gonna tempt the gods with putting up a picture on kinja, but the KOOL and Players cars in CART looked amazing.  The green/blue and white KOOL look good, but the green/blue on silver was really something.  Gugelim’s Hollywood cigarette cars always looked great too!  I know everybody has a thing for the Marlboro
