I used to have “FOGHAT” plates (Ohio). I picked them up for 1 year on my van right before it turned 25 and I could get the “lifetime” historic plates.

I may do it again for my current car, again just for a year, so I can have a set of newer ones to go with the old ones hanging on my garage wall. I think in Ohio it’s

I get that angle too, that’s why I brought this up. I’m not sure how this would (or could) get handled.

I’ve done this in the past (though not related to gap, which is why this is a bit foreign to me).  I pushed for more $$ (time off work for PT, for example).  But I was basically pushing for like $1000 more than they offered.  Had I lawyered up, I could have probably gotten more.

Thanks.  I should have probably avoided saying “only”.  Yes - obviously the owner’s issue to resolve.  Silverado driver has to do the legwork to get made whole.

Heads I win, tails you lose. Precious few areas of American life *don’t* operate that way.

First, excellent use of that Dr. Venkman quote.

There probably is a bit of “manufactured” tightness here.  So many supply chains continue to be heavily impacted by COVID, shipping shortages, etc.  I work in an entirely different sector and we’re seeing huge issues getting raw materials (in this case, chemicals).

Honest question: in circumstances like this where other party is at-fault (clearly), would Silverado driver be able to go after the other driver/insurer to get his “gap” covered?

Said another way, is the gap only a problem when it’s your own fault?

Oh right. That movie came out between the two I was mentioning. Spot on. I was already out of college by the time that happened, but it was somewhat similar to my high school experience of ~10 Asian kids in a graduating class of ~440.

Yup. All of this. Seeing yourself represented on TV/movies/etc., heck even teachers in school or whatever makes a difference. You’re already clearly “the weird kid” when you’re the only one with a different skin tone or a funny name or anything like that. Kids should feel like they belong, not alien. But I digress.

Kids

First gen Indian-American here. From my user name, you can guess my approx age and know that I grew up IN THE THICK of prime Simpson’s. I’m forever grateful to that show giving me & my family so much joy (and now I get to bond over it again w/ my kids).

As a kid, it was interesting to see Apu on the screen. We were

Ah gotchya. I was thinking going into Steelyard (which wouldn’t pull too many from the suburbs)..but of course that also leads right into Tremont! I used to work downtown Cleveland, so I got used to that roundabout and somewhat comfortable in that area. For the times I came up with the family on weekends (but in a

God I hate that state so much.

Yup. This one is always weird. “STAY ON THE TURNPIKE, but uh, the road changes”

I’ve gone through here for years (we live near Cleveland and had family in Pittsburgh & Baltimore), and I still get that moment of “wait, what?” when coming through.

I know of the one near Steelyard, but that probably isn’t bringing too many of us from the suburbs. University Circle?

(also, howdy fell NEOhio resident)

That’s not how our infrastructure system works!

Over/under would be best, but I would imagine could be more $$$

I was certainly not in any danger (theoretically).  As far as I could tell, the officer didn’t have his hand on his gun even and certainly wasn’t screaming at me to comply or anything.  It was about as polite an encounter there could be.  That being said, I was KEENLY aware that if I were to make any quick movements

Same.  Happy 40th this year, chief.

1981 here and similar feelings (though some interesting Toyota RWD stuff and trucks at least)

I’m not too far off.  1981 here and nothing really cool.  But I do still own the 1984 Toyota Van 5MT my parents bought new when I was a kid.
