It was a harsher time. If you have a problem with that, I wouldn’t look too much into the background stories of the other classic Disney movies. The fairy tale behind the Little Mermaid is particularly grim.
Considering they own Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar, I think they’re doing ok...
Are you really surprised? This site has a long and increasingly pronounced history of minimizing, dismissing or entirely ignoring stories that could be perceived as running counter to its social politics. Remember all of those stories on the Cologne NYE attacks? Oh wait, there were hardly any. I’m sure the race of the…
Sure, she’s a great actor, but her name isn’t nearly as big as Spacey’s. I can understand why Spacey would get more money from the start.
I thought the dragon was going to fly in and rip the roof off the place.
No. No she’s not. Killing people to escape/not die is not the same thing as killing people for pleasure. There’s a pretty clear distinction.
I mean, he is her lawyer. It’s kind of his job to advocate for his client. What do you expect him to say?
There’s no way he had never heard the rumors. Your love of him is clouding your judgment.
Do you have any reason to suspect that this was caused by racism? Are you just pulling shit out of your ass in a futile attempt to paint this as racism? Why why do you want this to be caused by racism so much? Does falsely painting stuff as racism, and them complaining about it, make you feel superior? Why are you…
Part of the blame has to be levied some the college students demanding “same spaces”. It may not be fair, but I can understand outsiders viewing the movement as ridiculous when you have certain student groups complaining to school administrations about pro-Trump materials on campus.
Maybe. Or maybe he’s just an entitled a**hole. As influential as race and gender is in our society (and lets face it, all of planet Earth), I don’t necessary buy that they are the deciding factors in every social interaction.
1) I think you are overselling what negative impact this is going to have on him. Sure, he’ll catch flak in the short term, but I can’t see him getting “years of abuse”. This a a fairly big story on this site, but really isn’t elsewhere. Ask most people and they won’t even know this ever happened.
The trailer is pretty bad, but it’s not terrible enough to warrant this reaction. Make no mistake about it, the strong negative reaction to this trailer is from 30-50 year old man-children angry that Columbia is letting girls play with their toys. I hope this movie does well, and I genuinely think it still can (the…
i’m all for public shaming (assuming it is used responsibly, and directed at deserving people. i think it’s one of the better ways to get positive change now. a lot of people won’t change their behavior because it’s the right thing to do, but will if they know their bad behavior will be publicized, and they’ll face…
as in most things, i believe consent is what is important. really not that complicated.
apples to oranges.
or just an a**hole. there’s literally nothing about this to suggest the behavior would have been different if the celeb were a man. you’re just projecting what you want to be the case onto the situation.
why is it that whenever a male POC does something wrong or terrible (like here, and to a much greater extent Rothsham and Cologne) the issue is solely focused on male privilege, and ethnicity is almost purposefully ignored, but if the perpetrator is a white guy, race is the entire focal point of the discussion?
isn’t this guy a POC?
