“I’m fine with a woman being president as long as she’s a cisgender man.”
“I’m fine with a woman being president as long as she’s a cisgender man.”
“I be fine with a woman as President. But I just don’t want Christine LaGarde to be that President.”
This morning, European Central Bank President Christine LaGarde gave an address and press conference to explain the Euro Zone response to the current crisis. She was superb, as always: measured, informed, presenting practical solutions, and imparting a sense of calm to anyone listening (at least that ship’s tiller is…
I think one of the easiest pieces of advice is just “drive it like a normal car”. Everyone seems to think that throttles and brakes on supercars must be on off switches and you have to burn rubber and set new records getting up to the speed limit every time, but the truth is for most modern cars if you just drive them…
I’d add: If you can afford the car, you can afford a performance driving course/instructor.
There’s some evidence that people that answer exit polls are more likely to be the type of people who have time to stop and talk to folks: old people.
There was candid picture taken of her where you can see her body a bit and the comments were awful as you expect.
Trump has worse dementia than Biden. He’s also not just a poor eater in bad physical health, he’s also an awful person who’s brain is full of worms and mush. I’d take either Dem over him, even on life support.
I’m not sure I’d agree that Trump is in the fittest physical health out of the three (and he’s not exactly transparent about anything), but this election is once again confirmation that we need an age cap.
Hi, I’m Jimmy from Jimmy’s Manure Delivery. All of our vehicles are Dodge Journeys, because they’re crap before we even load anything in them.
So basically a 90-year-old NIMBY activist got 20 floors’ worth of new housing units removed on the claim that it would increase sunlight?
In theory I don’t mind complying with a request to remove my winter boots or shoes that I happen to be wearing....BUT every time I’ve done that my hosts have provided nothing for me to put on my feet. This means I am forced to walk around all evening in thin socks, often on cold tile or wood floors in the middle of…
I have the same problem. We don’t wear shoes indoors in our house, and I have no problem taking my shoes off in someone else’s house, but I feel weird about asking people to take off their shoes in my house.
You are correct, and I probably should have said, “slightly undersells the point” rather than “slightly misses the point”.
I just think of the gentleman who waited six or seven hours to vote at TSU. He and other people, many of them young, waited in line to overcome the odds to cast their vote. Most young people don’t have that fight in them.
The advantage of a big-tent two-party system is that it simplifies the process of partisanship and turns it into a zero-sum closed system. This is a thing that is lost on Americans, I think, because we’ve (largely) never had to deal with multi-party coalition politics in the way that other major powers have had to.
Damn, didn’t there used to be a way to star articles or something? I also read the Jez article about deifying black people the other day. The 15 minutes combined I spent reading both of these gave a more in-depth, comprehensive view on what happened on Tuesday than the hours of tv and talk radio since. Who knew that…
It is not that young folks necessarily are faced with more obstacles, it is that younger people are more likely to give up trying to vote when they encounter the obstacles.
Anne - great article and there is a huge need to better understand the generational and geographic differences of Black voters.
