@TV's Paul Y.: I know, it's just that Murilee has frowned on this in the past, though making the occasional exception for himself to capture an especially elusive target.

Love 'em all. As an aside, does this mean parking lots are now fair game? Or is it only if the cars are sufficiently droolworthy?

@Will Shirley: That answers one question, as I was wondering why they went to the trouble of making it a convertible. In Norway.

@ぶっちぎり IN THE FACE!: Couldn't they at least have bought a NEW camper shell? It's like having a mouth full of white teeth and one yellow crown.

@Uncle Bo, piston forger: You have a point about the color. I think the first one I saw was in a darkish blue, and it looked so right.

Oh, my. First of all, I must disagree as to the prettiness. This is an E24 translated from German to Italian. I have lusted after it since the first time I saw one. I think you know where I'm going with my vote, and where I wish I could go with my checkbook. Sigh...

The Australian and Italian ones are kinda cool.

@area_educator kids...: It's stupid and impractical and sentimental, but taking cars out of Times Square just disrupts the whole thunderous, chaotic vibe of the place. It's like new Yankee Stadium vs. old, or something like that.

@Bartoni: I agree. It's just wrong in some inexplicable way.

Actually, it was that Chinese outfit...they were ready to buy the whole shebang, but they had to settle for Hummer. Now they have all these useless t-shirts.

This looks like one of those generic clip art cars that your local tire & auto center features in its newspaper ads. It does have the kind of tall, open greenhouse that makes older SUVs and minivans strangely appealing to me. Still, way too many questions to even want to touch this.

Too many lines and creases going in too many directions. M-B's styling has metaphorically and literally lost its way.

@Flathead Smith: Yes, Specifically, circa '65, when they took them off the grille and integrated them into the fenders. Though I would take any Riv of that generation.

@Ash78: Ash78 holds a monopolistic position in the COTD market. I demand an antitrust investigation.

I'm a little short on wrenching skills, but a couple months ago I came across a civil engineer type whose box full of files had flown out the gate of his pickup and exploded all over the road. I stopped, and my son and I helped to round them up before they blew away or got shredded.

Everybody should read the NYT piece about Brian Deese, the guy in the White House who is running this show. This should be, um, interesting.

Ooooh, now I own a blue chip! Or is a cow chip?
