Everyone thinks it should be version 11 instead of 10.10. Who cares? It's merely a versioning number.
The same way every Apple/Microsoft/Google topic gets side tracked. I could give 2 craps how they version their OS releases. I just find it amusing how Maverick's OSX 10.10 gets flamed to hell while Ubuntu 13.10 isn't even mentioned until I pointed it out.
Where's all the anti-Apple users posting "hurr durr, why name it v13.10 instead of v14.0"?
How did your project go? I'm working on setting one up now & am running into problems.
To opt out:
Interesting, I never thought of something like this! I did a Google search for this product and the reviews all claim that the cover is flimsy and easily broken. Any similar products? I hate the rats nest of cables just as much as you do!
What about Hackintosh VS Mac? I'm almost 100% sure you'll say Hackintosh, but figured I'd ask anyways.
It will be used for both power and data. I'm not sure what a PoE is...can you explain?
There is no outlet in this hallway. Our front door (which is where the camera will be placed) is on the first floor and leads directly to stairs. We live on the 2nd and 3rd floor of our building. So our first floor is maybe 4x4 feet of space with no outlet and no easy way to get cables down there without taping…
I am creating a home security system using a Raspberry Pi & a Playstation Eye camera. The Playstation Eye needs to be in the hallway (far away from the Pi) and needs power (supplied by the powered USB hub).
Awesome, thank you for the link! Reading over it right now!
Ooh, I did not know this! What if your USB has to be greater than 10-15 feet? I think I need my USB extended about 50+ feet.
I just had this idea while commenting on another post...I rent, so there are a lot of home improvement tricks that I can't do. Could you create a blog post about some great home hacks that you can do while renting (and not screwing yourself out of your security deposit)?
I'm having a similar problem...I need to run a USB cable, ethernet cables, and power cables clear across my living room & up a flight of stairs. To make things worse, I'm renting, so punching massive holes in the walls isn't an option.
Just purchased the 4-port USB 2.0 Cube (10065) that was recommended in the article. Thanks LifeHacker!
Any way to disable the garish flat icons?
What would be the Google Chrome alternative? Chrome >> Window >> Task Manager?
Ok. I saw that the app was last updated on 9/17 (today) and assumed that was the update you were reporting about.
