That is weirdly cool, if I had a mortician buddy, I’d give her one.

Yeah, I am straight, but in my youth, I was very good-looking and I downplayed it because the amount of attention I got (and the kind) made me really uncomfortable. So would I have read as “less attractive” than someone trying to be a beauty queen? Absolutely. If I really didn’t want male attention, I’d have adapted…
No, it’s really not. There are all sorts of nuances that affect how attractive someone is perceived to be—we don’t think all athletes are beautiful—hair, dress, make-up all play a part. Most people, from what I’ve obseved, aren’t that perceptive about features and bone structure. Pretty is a package.
So long, congrats on getting a job at Wired. Will see you there, but it won’t be the same without the i09 comment section, but I guess you already know that, which is why we’ll also see you here . . .okay, will stop now.
Terrific work you’re doing on this Annalee. I find this much more interesting than the gotcha articles about the men who used the site. This is clearly fraud, whether that was always ALM’s intention isn’t completely clear, but it may not matter—the intent to commit fraud is all over this. My guess is that the…
I’m sure this will get lost in the greys, but brava Annalee—great job of reporting. Ashley-Madison is pretty much a total scam. Well done.
Not just that—none of these guys would be inclined to sue or go public about the fraud. Whole thing is a gigantic scam.
People are dumber than they realize about gender. Back in the early days of the Internet, I used to use my gender-specific name—and I’d still have people speculate that I was in “cyberdrag” because I didn’t fit their preconceptions about how people of my gender write and behave.
There’s a certain validity to…
It’s sounding more and more like a giant scam. Eh, Ashley-Madison deserves to tank.
I’ve read that Kate Mulgrew put the kabosh on any affairs between Janeway and her underlings. But, yeah, Chakotay and Janeway worked and Chakotay and Seven really, really didn’t. Zero chemistry.
It’s possible, but the hacker or hackers were mad about AM’s policy of making users pay to have their data removed. If you’re mad about your cheating spouse, why bring up the pay-to-remove policy? That’s why I’m going with guy who got caught and blames AM for effin’ up his life.
Yes, but there’s still no financial gain for the hackers, so as I said, it’s a weird form of extortion.
It’s a weird sort of extortion though—as I recall the hackers aren’t asking for money. What pissed them off was AM demanding money for removing names and info from their database.
I SAID “NO CAPES”!
Yeah, my mom started as a divorce lawyer and then became a public defender. She said it was less depressing.
I know it’s easy to feel that way, but Europe fought endless wars until WWII—and it finally seemed to hit the Europeans that endless wars were not worth it. Peace in the Middle East is possible—but it’s up to those countries to move toward it—and away from the endemic corruption that creates such despair for so many.
Oh, if the headaches suddenly appeared, I’d be worried, but I’ve been getting migraines most of my life. Migraines are weird because the pain is so severe and so meaningless—because, yeah, normally that degree of pain indicates something is wrong—but migraines just sort of are.
Thanks. I’ve started doing stretches and some core strengthening and I think it’s already helping a little. I’ll take exercise over pain medications anyday, so exercise it is.
Have you looked at Esther Gokhale’s 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back? It helped my husband who exercised and habit-changed his way out of lower back pain. It was kind of tedious, but, then, so was the chronic back pain.
Right now, I have a migraine (hormonal/stress), lower back pain (bad sitting habits, weak core) and a sore arch (plantar fascitis from wearing shoes without arches all the time.) I suspect I’m not atypical—basically, as you get older, you’re just more prone to these things—particularly if you’re sedentary and have…
