I’m just going to take this opportunity to post what might be the best block I’ve ever seen live:

Wu Ke mistake.

Equipment Manager: “I have nothing to say, officer. I ain’t gonna dime anyone out.”

I propose the solution we use at the Y. If you foul someone for no reason, the next time you run down the floor you’ll catch an elbow to the chin and everyone else will pretend they saw nothing. Not too many cheap fouls down at my local Y.

OK I am literally just copying and pasting my comment from the post to here. Still relevant.

Which would make the foul unnecessary, and thus a flagrant foul by the NBA’s own rulebook.

What? “If intentional fouling bores fans and causes people to stop watching which causes the NBA to lose money and fail, then bad free throw shooters are just getting what they deserve.”

The bad free throw shooters aren’t the only ones being penalized — the fans are. You know, the people who pay for the product.

It’s also not based on hot dog vendors and parking lot attendants, but they still get paid at least minimum wage. The game is also played by professional athletes, and not by the people who work in the offices of the franchise, who all also get paid a living wage. Your argument is invalid.

Irrelevant. If you hire someone, pay her what she’s owed and don’t break the law. That’s how bootstraps are made. Duh.

They made the decision to have cheerleaders. Pay them.

One step. BUT THIS SHIT PISSES ME OFF. As a professional dancer myself, NO ONE WANTS TO PAY YOU. It’s so frustrating especially bc sports players make millions. Cheerleading and dance are a SPORT and actually have just as many injuries (if not more) than football. UGHHHHHHH-who has an ativan?

Yeah, I’ve heard some people say it’s “not even a real job” and they should be “grateful for what they get,” yet they have no problem with the millions of dollars paid to each player of football, baseball, or basketball.

Experience AND a chance to build their cheer leading portfolio, which they can use to show off their work when they finally enter the high paid world of professional cheer leading. Oh wait.

I also loved the argument that these women shouldn’t complain and should actually be grateful because they get to hang around rich guys who may bestow trinkets upon them, or — the ultimate cheerleader ambition — marry them (because why else would anyone be a cheerleader, right?).

Nono, you’re mistaken; it’s not that they should be paid in experience. It’s that they are supposed to be grateful to be in the presence of wealthy professional athletes who might deign to let them be glorified prostitutes if they’re especially good at cheerleading.

Since you posted this comment, it’s actually been slashed to $6.32 and a free basket of breadsticks with purchase of an entree.

Considering how much a franchise makes this is bullshit. Fucking pay them!

Uh oh, here come the assholes who think cheerleaders should only be paid in experience or some such right-wing twaddle.

These poor women can’t seem to catch a break; they’ve already seen their settlement get reduced by $1,000 between the headline and the first sentence of the post!
