Was really hoping that was SpeedyCop’s latest.

I’m not sure why we continue to look for rational justification for anything Trump does, when it’s clear that his only motivation is sheer spite for the brown guy who previously held the office.

Did the various Tesla models compete only in the Electric Vehicle category? Because it’s highly dubious that a Porsche Panamera has lower cost of ownership than a Model S, or the QX60/QX80 vs. Model X. Teslas have extremely low fuel costs and almost negligible maintenance costs, and maintain their value quite well.

You got my attention with the LeBaron photo. My mom had a red one, and it was the first car I ever drove. (While home alone, about age 14, and only within the driveway.)

My EV is quicker than your enthusiast car.

I don’t disagree that there’s a cost barrier, but I think it’s lower than some may think, for two reasons.
1. Affordable EVs with decent range are starting to hit the used market in a huge way. In a couple years when Bolts and Teslas are more abundant on the used market, even more so.
2. EVs seem to be the only case

The rapid charging infrastructure is a legitimate problem that would prevent EVs from reaching 50%+ penetration of the US Market. But they’re a red herring for the near future, since 95%+ of cars are driven well within the typical EV’s range on a daily basis, and as the article notes, many folks can charge at home

I want this. Badly.

Took a round-trip on United over winter break, on a plane with free streaming to your own device — provided you install the United iOS app before the flight. Watched The Big Short on the way down and several episodes of Arrested Development on the way back. The return flight was on an a/c that even had power outlets

The primary error is that it’s not a toll lane. It’s the entire highway. All lanes. As in, you can’t take that stretch of I-66 during rush hour unless you are HOV or pay the toll.

As I understand it, highway patrol have a real-time data feed available on their in-car computers. Instantly after a car passes a toll gantry, the system shows whether they are set to Toll or HOV mode. If the cop’s visual doesn’t match the HOV setting, they will pull you over.

Or walk, or work from home. If those options are available.

Lots of errors and misleading statements in this article. I feel like I should do a reddit AMA to clarify.

Prior to this week, a 10-mile stretch of I-66 between the Capital Beltway and Washington DC was exclusively HOV-2 during “rush hour periods” which were 2.5hours in the morning (Eastbound toward DC) and in the

Missed the lede: This isn’t a toll lane. The entire 10 miles of highway, from I-495 in Fairfax County to the Roosevelt Bridge into Washington DC, is only HOV/Toll during the defined rush hours. The alternative is taking local surface streets. (But prior to this week, the entire 10-mile stretch was strictly HOV-2 for

I’m with you! Was a great car. Got me through some nasty winters when I lived in New England. And fun to drive. Maybe not Porsche-fun, but certainly more than Camry-fun.

Out of curiosity, where’d you buy your used L-series? I traded in a silver LS1 manual in the DC area...

Wrong about the auto. The 2.2L was available with a 5-speed, that was sourced from Saab! I know this because I purchased a brand new LS1 (Silver with 5-speed, moonroof, CD player and foglights) in May of 2000 and put 97K miles on it over the next ~7 years. It was actually a great car. It was far less of a

Um, they drove it on the stage last night.

Drove a Kia for 10 years. Dealership gave me free oil changes for that entire time, never recommended stupid unnecessary work, was very accommodating of my timing/schedule. Did you have a different experience or is it just your perception?

Bought my CPO Model S within Daniel’s budget. Upside: Came with a new 4-year warranty. Downside: He’ll never want to switch to the Model 3.
