There are TONS of countries with lower emission standards. Actually these cars can be sold pretty much everywhere, even in the US would be possible. The issue is that they stated lower emission standards. If they didn´t do that they could aswell have been sold.

I´ve seen transmissions a LOT worse and those were still driving. Actually, apart from the bearing, I didn´t see anything that would make me freak out.
