I really think they should just give up on any attempts to ground their story in the true history of Masters & Johnson. It was a terrific set-up, but they've strayed too far already at this point, and it'd be more exciting if we knew the writers weren't duty-bound to follow the timeline many of us have glanced on

Hmmmm… so difficult, but it'll have to be

Add to that: more of a father figure to your school bully and arch nemesis than he is to you.

I think that's a bit of an oversimplification actually. Perhaps my use of the word "affectation" is unfair. You have to realise, nearly all folk American "Heartland" tradition is dominated by that sort of singing style. It's not as if he's locating a specific accent in a specific genre and stealing it. He's simply

People always cite the first season as the high-point of the series. Although that may have been the most consistent season, I still think the best individual episodes were in the second season — namely "Fight" and another I can't remember the title of.

I'm not sure if it's quite a 'hillbilly' accent - perhaps more an affectation of the cadence his favourite folk singers had themselves.

"Hey Mom, when we FaceTime, do you spend more time looking at my face or the little box with your own face in it?"
"I guess I look at the small box."
"Yea, me too."

Now I just have the image in my head of an executive from Showtime walking into a backlot room and suddenly coming across the House of Lies set.

Amen. "Painter in my Pocket", in addition to sounding great, has some of my favourite lines.

OK, I'll admit that the "Sean would have been a great lawyer for RP" comment/joke was very ill-advised.

I don't think he was making that speculation to condone what Polanski did. I think he was simply trying to put the whole "I love this artist but he did something bad!" conflict into perspective. We all have many artistic/professional heroes, and it's more than likely that at least one of them secretly did something

Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of mediocre/weak reviews from this in the wake of its release. I don't get them at all — this has got to be maybe their second best album, if not their very best. Beautiful, entrancing, lean. None of the bells and whistles that dragged down Bloom for me at times. Also, "PPP" is one of the

I know this is meant to be a discussion about Poison Season — yes, it's great — but I got to use this as an opportunity to add to the chorus of "Kaputt is fucking amazing, why aren't we always talking about it?". It's weird to use this word to describe an album with several songs clocking 7mins+, but what a lean

Another favourite classic literature-related line reading from The Simpsons that cracks me up is in "Homer The Great"

Hmmm… for me, it might just be Owen Wilson's line reading of "How did an asshole like Bob get such a nice kitchen?!" in Bottle Rocket

"And you were going to be my cross-fit queen"

Agreed. And I was looking forward to his role in it the most. Still pretty shaken from We Need To Talk About Kevin

Funniest part, along with Randall Park in the office scenes.

One of the few things I liked about Life Partners - a by-all-accounts mediocre indie-lite romcom - was that it was set in Minneapolis.

I was a little disappointed in it, too, but I guffawed surprisingly loud in the cinema at this line:
