Most of the radio transmissions from earth are probably to weak to be picked up past tens of light years. Likewise, any transmissions from an ET source not ridiculously strong/directed at us also won’t be picked up. How this isn’t more regularly discussed is beyond me.

I don’t disagree. When I said it wouldn’t be a huge deal if Trump quit before the convention, I meant that it wouldn’t be a huge deal procedurally, not it wouldn’t be a huge deal for the party itself. Trump quitting would be an enormous crisis for the GOP.

In most states, judges are elected. And more often than not, there will be the same number of vacancies as there candidates. So the whole trick is getting on the ballot.

I dunno. Maybe it’s from spending 5 years working in the Brooklyn courthouse where we generally say “judge,” not “Your Honor,” and where if you’re not actually yelling at the judge, you haven’t gone far enough.

But she literally got handcuffed for trying to talk over the judge.

He’s in a room full of lawyers. And sometimes you need to talk over that judge, if only to demand your rights as a potential defendant. Moreover, there is almost always an Administrative Judge who oversees the other judges.
