I don't think it works like that. Sticking a GTR or M3 or Z06 or 919 in a showroom enhances the appeal for the brand and makes you want to be a part of it, even if you are only there to buy a Altima, X1, Impala, Boxster, etc...

You make a good point actually - everybody else is behind the times. MPG and emissions is very important for marketing modern supercars. These are halo cars which reflect the values and direction of the brand.

It's also nice for narrow long stuff that you don't want to hang off the back, like pipes, trim, etc...
The trouble with this is when you get used to it and switch to car that doesn't have it.
That is an old person's vert. I don't think anybody in their 20's would aspire to one. For the yuppie, anything European would trump anything Japanese or American.

Haha fair enough. It had high miles, some rough spots, and I spent many hours waiting for a good deal to come along. I don't think it was anything especially unusual though.
I got my 2006 997 (base coupe) for 26k. Deals are out there.
