Well it’s evidence that direct democracy is not a great form of governance. Self-governance via representative democracy is better.

More like, what happens when old people decide they want to screw over their grandkids.
This is what happens when the dog finally catches the car, “WTF did I do?”
Yeah, Britain has managed to get a pretty good deal. They’ve mostly avoided the major drawbacks of being a member of the EU while enjoying most of the benefits.
I don’t think it’s the internet per se that is responsible for the widespread idea that your individual vote doesn’t matter. That’s a notion that’s always been all over popular entertainment and political media.
There are some journalists who seem to be finally waking up to the danger Trump poses to the country. The tone of the coverage of Trump seems to be shifting in a more critical direction (even in relatively small ways). And NPR’s On the Media recently devoted an entire episode toward arguing that the press has a duty…
You’re right that the press has built up other insurgent candidates in the past, but I don’t think it’s given any of them nearly as much early and ongoing coverage as it’s given Trump. There’s a HUGE difference in the wall-to-wall coverage of Trump vs. someone like Ross Perot or Howard Dean. And that partly has to do…
Maybe. But Trump’s antagonistic relationship to the press and remarks about how he’d use the power of the executive branch to go after journalists who displease him should give any member of the fourth estate the willies. He’s a Putin in the making.
They’ll remember Warren was a Republican as soon as she formally endorses Clinton. There are rumors she’s going to do it very soon.
LOL there are a bunch of them already here trying to inform us of the glad tidings of the Prophet Bernardus and warning us against the tempations of wicked jezebels promising stupid, lame-o stuff like bodily autonomy and a public option.
B-but First Ladies set policy and vote on legislation, not presidents and senators, right?
Ditto. I went from being positive and Bernie-curious to turned off to actively hating his ass. He was an awful candidate and, from most reports, a major dick.
A lot of the unease some younger liberals have with Hillary is a product of decades of a deliberate smear campaign against the Clintons. Most of the accusations disappear into hearsay and dubious sources under closer scrutiny.
Though Sanders’ electability argument is crap too, so there are zero reasons besides cultish adoration to vote for him.
Yep. I was concerned when HRC announced she was running because I remembered her campaign devolved into something of a shitshow last time. I was very relieved when I found out she had hired a number of key Obama campaigners and was going to adopt more of his campaign strategies.
Someone elsewhere here is talking about college students they know who are donating plasma so they can contribute to Bernie’s campaign. That’s cultish behavior.
Dumping toxic waste on a poor Hispanic community makes Bernie look like another NIMBY white rich guy.
All campaigns end up in debt. And Bernie’s burn rate must be really high since his campaign contributions have dropped in the past 2 months.
It’s really aggravating that Sierra Blanca has gotten virtually no press this entire campaign season. That alone demonstrates that the Clinton campaign has been treating Sanders with kid gloves. Anyone else would have been hammering him on that and Burlington College.
