No, it’s funny but shortly after I tried to book in an appointment to get some vaccinations for upcoming travel, and found out they’d gone out of business. So... guess things worked out on their own?

‘Public Service’ implies you’re in ‘service’ to the ‘public’. Cops are public servants only tangentially, as they’re the enforcers of an increasingly privatized justice system. Doctors and nurses in private healthcare aren’t public servants any more than dentists or plastic surgeons. The docs at the VA could be…
I almost died and had to -go- to ER because of a dismissive GP. Went in on two separate visits asking for antibiotics for bad tonsillitis. Doc told me to go home and rest. Finally ended up having to go to ER with a parapharyngeal abscess, spent a solid week in the surgery ward with round-the-clock penicillin and…
People sitting at the bench playing phone games for 3+ minutes between sets is an outrage. I have a ‘life hack’ to turn it into a positive thing, though — when someone like that is hogging a bench or machine you want to use, do a different exercise that you’d normally not do. For instance, if the incline bench is…
Me too. Especially since a consequence of placing so much emphasis on these artificial standards is de-emphasizing the value of loving yourself and reducing our general appreciation for simple, natural beauty techniques like sleeping enough, having clean and healthy hair / skin / teeth, and being comfortable in your…
In my experience, when your significant other resents your parents and/or gets triggered when you say things like “my [parent] did it this way” it’s a sign you need to break up and find yourself a more well-rounded significant other.
Another life hack - don’t marry someone who dislikes / resents your parent(s).
My mom swears by this technique:
Ah, frat bros. Molesting unconscious people is a cherished pastime for their ilk, alongside “neglecting to call the paramedics for people who are sick / dying”.
Perhaps, but it can also be highly profitable.
I dress like a hobo when I work out, but I appreciate it when I see people looking nice while they exercise. Some people exercise to feel good; some do it to look good; some do it for both! Some people like to look good while they exercise. If you find yourself hating on people simply because they look nice at the…
Where I stand on this story, or ‘homelessness’ in general, doesn’t change the fact that this thread — in particular, your responses to people — had me laughing out loud. You got quite a few people whipped up into a freaking frenzy with just a handful of terse replies. Awesome work.
She’s probably sad now, but in the long run she’ll be happy she got off Twitter.
The full bodycam footage, which starts as the officer approaches the entrance to Waffle House, is up on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/shaunking/videos/1842331532472423/
The first game told an awesome story, with incredible gameplay, and while there was intense violence it wasn’t exploitative or trivialized.
If you’re in very close quarters, it will make seeing / breathing unpleasant, and you could get real ‘contact’. It’s not going to blind everyone in the whole room, though.
I’ve been pepper sprayed before. It is the most painful thing I ever had to endure. There are different strengths and different reactions, but I went blind for 15-20 minutes, was dry heaving for half an hour, and had blisters and scabs on my face and neck and was in pain for 12+ hours. It will absolutely stop just…
Demanding people disarm prior to ‘talks’ isn’t as viable these days, seeing as every leader who’s actually attempted to comply with our disarmament demands ends up getting deposed and killed by us, or by our proxies, shortly after. Now that they have the capability to strike U.S. mainland, ratcheting up ever more…
In a just society I’d expect a stronger social safety net and a non-punitive drug policy would reduce the homeless population and the number of drug addicts. It’s a shame U.S.A. isn’t a just society.
Here in reality, many homeless have substance abuse problems. Ask any of your friends who work in pharmacies participating in needle swap or methadone programs. How we address homelessness and substance abuse are important topics for discussion (U.S. isn’t doing so hot on either).
