I moved to Australia a couple years ago. Before I moved, I was trying to figure out how I could legally import my guns (I owned several)... now I realize just how nice it is living in a society where you don’t have to worry about guns all the time.

Let the people who refuse to turn over the ARs try their luck against SWAT and the National Guard. Their law-abiding neighbors with legal bolt-action deer rifles and pump shotguns will be standing by to lend a hand as well if the National Guard runs into trouble (doubtful).

The federal Assault Weapons ban was a token law, until it was rescinded in 2004. Let’s reinstate it, and take it a bit further. Ban any weapon that is capable of both semiautomatic fire and is magazine-fed. Not just rifles, but handguns and shotguns too (no more Saiga-12s). Maybe dole out a few special licenses to own…

Interim TS is fairly common. You can be stuck with Interim for 2+ years due the massive backlog of clearance reviews waiting to for final approval. I’m staunchly anti-Trump but this is a bit of a non-story, really.

Oh, they still definitely did NOT have cause to shoot him. I’m just saying it’s naive (or deliberately disingenuous) to act like the police should have just let him drive off after being detained, with a suspended license, in a potentially stolen vehicle. It doesn’t work like that.

Victims of institutionalized racism see a disproportionately high rate of police violence, but white people still see more police violence than is warranted. The U.S. is a violent place with a wildly overgrown prison system and militarized police, even before you add racism into the mix.

How did they know where to find the guy? Police responded to a shoplifting, and ended up pursuing a car that was swerving into oncoming traffic. He was on a suspended license and his plate didn’t match the vehicle.
