Just because it’s a little sweeter than a tangerine doesn’t make it sugar-charged junk food. Relax.

Prickly pears are cool, but I don’t think they can compare with a dekopon / sumo orange. They are good, though, and they do thrive pretty much anywhere.

I’m from Florida and have eaten blood oranges fresh off the tree. I was skeptical as well, but damn - the dekopon (or Sumo, as it’s being branded where I live) - is the most delicious citrus I’ve ever had. You might prefer certain aspects of the blood orange’s flavor but you should give the dekopon a try. Flavor

Denis Villeneuve is one of a very few masters alive in the modern age of cinema. I haven’t seen this film yet (going very soon) but suspect the trailers, which appeal to fans of the original film and to fans of cinema, probably went wide of the mark for the ‘blockbuster’ crowd, who typically flock to children’s CGI

The subject material in Your Name lends itself much better to live action, Western filmmaking than many of the other anime adaptations. There are no giant space robots, no cyber ninjas, no teenagers with supernatural powers - this is just a unique love story, and I think it has much better chances of being handled

Wow, the lighthouse here looks exactly the way I pictured it. Crazy.

In my opinion, no we shouldn’t, unless we’re willing to have a discussion broad / deep enough to discuss the entire issue. Sort of like we shouldn’t be using random acts of terror as talking points against Muslims when we’re unwilling / too ignorant for the discussion to factor in things like blowback from our foreign

We don’t have to project our dietary / lifestyle neuroses onto our children and pets - it’s a choice. Letting your dog have a little peanut butter is fine. I know this from decades of experience.

Regular old peanut butter works fine too.

What’s with the chopsticks? Are they curved, or is that just a camera / perspective thing?

The Jones Act is what gave US Citizenship to people in Puerto Rico, so waiving it wouldn’t make a lot of sense. However, it should be amended to allow them to purchase competitively-priced goods delivered by multinational ships, not just US ones.

It’s a lot easier to talk about (and remedy) gun violence in the States if we don’t get wrapped around the axle on the shooters’ races.

such as the Jones Act which requires Puerto Ricans to buy goods from American-made ships with American crews

EDIT - comment removed (wrong article)

“scope” and “scale” are things that matter when discussing ‘mistakes’.

I saw this article in my ‘You may also like...’ links at the top of Splinter news. Strange that it directed me to an article from several years ago!

It’s good that you’ve got Bruce Lee skills, but for the rest of the police out there, I’ll settle for them drawing tasers instead of handguns when dealing with a potential physical threat.
