For the love of god, ALWAYS pull the fusion core out of your power armor whenever you’re leaving it unattended. It’s like leaving the keys in the car ignition with the doors unlocked; NPCs WILL steal it.

Hell, if you played Fallout 3 with the Operation Anchorage DLC you could get Power Armor right from the start of the game after paying the Brotherhood of Steel a visit.
