Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is an interesting game. If you go back and read the Iwata Asks interview for it, the developers outright state that it was made in response to what the trends were in JRPGs at the time (it was released on the heels of FFXIII). The developers felt that JRPGs were skewing too hard on the story

I chose to review it because, as I said in the second paragraph, I was hoping that Takahashi and crew would make something I enjoyed more this time around.

Now playing

Sneaky Immigrant Song intro, Mjolnir shattered, Hulk, Thor’s reaction to Hulk. There has never been a better trailer.

The Prestige.

I few things I love about the elevator fight in Winter Soldier: it’s not too long, doesn’t overstay its welcome or credibility (I’m looking at you, clip from Man of Tai Chi); it’s not just straight up beatings - when Cap gets his hand stuck to the wall, it raises the stakes, and changes the pace; and it’s the set-up

Pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Can the man who brought Chet Haze into the world really be blameless?

Intergalactic team up movie between charming Thor and Hulk is literally what made me buy a ticket. There was no way I was paying to see a third Thor movie before that delightful trailer.

Piss off, ghost.

Right? “A friend from work!” was perhaps the perfect five second distillation of the tone of the film which I bet attracted more people than if they had kept Hulk under wraps until opening night.

This is exactly how the people who’ve greenlit the last 6 years’ worth of DC movies think.

I love how he basically starts every line with “Hey, man”

Great jokes are never a waste of screentime.

Sigh. Me afraid me have to agree. And me loved Zack’s reviews of earlier Trek series — they one of favorite things AVC ever did. But me very frustrated with Star Trek fans who not willing to let new show be new show and not retread of everything that came before.

I get why people are frustrated with the show, and your review touches on some of what I consider to be the strengths and weaknesses here, but when a reviewer comes right out and says they cannot review a show on its own merits, I am forced to wonder if they’re the right person for the task.

I have a lot of respect for

Jeopardy coverage hasn’t been the same since the Kinjapocalypse

Man, I haven’t said anything because I didn’t want to rank among the whiny masses... but this whole Kinja thing SUCKS! It’s ruined this site. Ruined. There, I said it.

well different people have different views of fun in video games, considering their open-ended nature at times. not to mention that you don’t beat a game as grand as this in 38 minutes without some form of intimate knowledge about the game itself you can only get by playing a ton of it. People who speedrun games

You know he probably already has at least one (if not several) very long playthroughs of the game already aye? People don’t knock out a speedrun on their first go.
