You’re doing the right thing if you want to really learn how to drive a manual! There’s no substitute for daily practice, and there’s no reason that will give you daily practice more than necessity. Sometimes, jumping into the deep end is a better teacher than anything else.

It’s definitely good to find a calm and patient teacher for this. My dad? Awful. My wife’s former boss? Amazing. Taught me in his Saturn Ion, then we swapped cars for a couple of weeks so I could actually learn, rather than just trying it for five minutes one time. It worked well.

I never realized what an art there is to high performance driving until Bob Bondurant crammed 15 or so thrill riders, including me, into the back of a Ford Econoline passenger van and proceeded to drive us around the seemingly (or really) vertically banked Ford test track at 100 mph.

Let me address the common complaints, one by one.

As much as I love thumpers, IMO this should remain in its crated form. Things like this are original only once; yes, it would still be “original” if assembled, but this is the larval stage and very rare. If I bought it, it would be placed on a plinth in the library purely as a decoration.
