Let’s not forget they invented the minivan on a similar, if not the same, platform at this time, too. I’ll never own one, but they’re great to rent for long trips. AND, I knew two people that had manually shifted Caravans.
I agree with valsidalv completely, but everything ebbs and flows, even jalopnik. If we didn’t have these seemingly “boring” periods, we wouldn’t appreciate the great times as much.
I bought a silver Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a six speed manual transmission which is an SUV that could be considered the “wagon” of today. Jeep sells them in tan which is a shade of brown.
I know it’s not a Lexus, but I picked up this 03 Acura 3.2CL Type S with the rare 6-speed AND an LSD. It’s got just over 100,000 and was reasonable at $5000. It’s 10 years newer than the Lexus SCs and has airbags everywhere.
That looks like a larger version of the Corolla coupe Toyota marketed in the U.S. It resembles what a Camry coupe would’ve looked like had one been sold here (an early 90s version, not the later Solara).
“Friends help you move. REAL friends help you move bodies.”
Wheeling in a Jeep Wrangler with the top down and the doors off.
The way I’m reading it, thats’s just a “working” title.
Replace the interior with a set of salvage yard skins, fix the mechanical issues, drive it over the coming summer and flip it for a tidy profit when you’re done OR gut it, cage it, swap the tranny and pedals and have a decent weekend warrior package.
Would more frequent “spirited” driving cure the carbon buildup issue?
Cuz it’s a Camry, not a Cressida.
I always liked the dual rear wipers on the Cressida wagons. They remind me of the triple wipers on MG Midgets.
I had an 84 Supra in 1992 that needed a heater core. I tapped out and traded it for a new Miata. Great car, but best decision ever.
It looks good......for a minivan.
Make it available with a third pedal (NOT a parking brake) and I’m in.
They are cheaper. On the mainline cars ($0.99), either the chassis or body is die cast metal, not both. The reason is because it’s cheaper to ship them due to lower weight. This way they can still legally be called, “die cast cars”. They still make full die cast Hot Wheels cars, they just charge more for them. They…
In the late 90s there used to be a red one with white stripes in increasing width from the door handle line down. It was a special edition called the “Fire Arrow”. My wife and I still laugh bout that car.
I don’t know if anyone mentioned it yet, but this also officially an antique car. Buy it, tag as a historic vehicle, and cruise it to car shows wit your entire family.
We sold our ‘14 Explorer Sport (365 HP, but auto only) and we were looking at G37s, specifically manuals and out of 2800-ish in the US on Cars.com, only 33 are stick shifts and a few of those are autos, too. Apparently some salesmen consider a shiftable automatic a stick.
