Yeah, there is not inconvenience when you have like 10 launchers and all of them want

1- Start when your start your OS.
2- Download updates for the launcher itself and the games.

Just imagine downloading fortnite, PUBG and Apex updates in the same weekend. Now tell me how you live in the city and you dont have any

Principle: You back us with your money and we reward you with X.

It’s a false dichotomy made by epic. A temporary gambit to grab sufficient enough market share (whatever they’ve determined that to be). If Epic continues operating in the same shitty manner that they have been, Steam doesn’t need to do a thing because they can just sit and let Epic sabotage themselves.

My issue is that is excusivity on a relatively open platform. Imagine if games started coming out only at gamestop and nowhere else pre-digital. And they aren't getting these exclusives because of the lower profit cut. Coffee Stain said in their video for satisfactory that Epic gave them money for the exclusivity deal.

The whole point of Steam was having all your games in one place. Now we’re just going backwards.

I think this is different than the general “upset at EGS exclusives”. When games randomly decide to do that, whatever, yeah, it’s just an inconvenience. In this case, people paid for steam keys and then were told that they would not receive steam keys and could not get a refund (until now). I think there are some

It is a big deal though. The EGS has had major vulnerabilities found multiple times.

The more “launchers” I have on my system, the more at risk I am (as each has its own set of vulnerabilites). I don’t want that.... give me the choice where to buy the game.

As others have said, it’s not about the cut - if it was, then Epic wouldn’t have to offer further incentives for exclusivity.

Changing their cut is eroding their business, they don’t need to do anything. EGS is buoyed by Fortnite without that their entire platforms unstable, in Valves case their platform is rock solid for now.

The thing is the 12% Epic takes is unrealistic in the way things work with Steam’s business model and Epic knows this:

Sure, but you are wildly misunderstanding the point. Being ignorant of the problem doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

My main issues with Epic are just that the store/launcher itself sucks, and buying exclusivity puts a very bad taste in my mouth.  I would rather see them use those truckloads of money they are backing up to developers to make a better product instead.

EGS isnt available in some countries that Steam is, of said countries there were backers.

I don’t think the devs of Shenmue III and Deep Silver are doing “the right thing”, I think they’re just avoiding the worst case scenario. The right thing would be to deliver on what was promised based on what the deal was when the risk was high and they were begging (yes, begging.. That’s what Kickstarter is..) for

It is not just about the launcher.....People have to download and use Uplay even if they buy a Ubisoft game, apart from the normal griping about having to have yet another launcher installed on their computers, people don’t really care, why? Because even though it’s not that great, it works and actually has most if

Being inconvenienced is one thing. But these people kickstarted the whole thing with their money and were promised one specific thing and getting another.

Weird how people still play games they like and are actually good, huh?

If you need to feel hospitable in a place like Twitch, where the incentive to get paid is to get more users, and the larger streamers have a constant barrage of chat...I just don’t see how it’s possible to avoid this stuff completely.

My only concern is that if I end up with a new psychologist they might try to diagnose me with this instead of understanding that gaming for me is one of my coping mechanisms to deal with severe depression...

Shit, this looks absurd and yet I kinda want it. I’m way into novelty in gaming these days and I’m a big fan of the thought that goes into the tactile aspects of games (controller design especially) so this kinda feels like it’s aimed at exactly me.
