Goddamn the last few minutes of the AB's game were tense. Every time a player got tackled, it seemed like the game was over. That final push was probably the best sporting moment of the year for me (eclipsing the 0-0 draw in the ENG-NZ test series).

You should watch some other Powell and Pressburger movies, now that you've got a taste of them from A Matter of Life and Death. I recommend The Red Shoes.
This was a very light film-watching week for me. I saw Make Way for Tomorrow, a 1937 film about an elderly couple forced to separate after their house is foreclosed by the bank. It had some very touching moments, but I found the intensely stagy approach to filming (and acting) a bit off-putting.
