They could have suspended Rice for a season. They could absolutely from the beginning made it clear that they don't care why a thing happened, only that it happened. They could fire whoever put up the Tweet about Mrs. Rice regretting her role in the incident. There were so many better ways to handle this. The NFL

In apology for disturbing his NFL masters' meditation.

Yeah, but how do you know source B isn't part of a domestic coverup?

C'mon it's Jersey. Like the NFL doesn't have connections.

Nah. Somebody'll fall on their sword and that'll be the end of it. It might take Goodell out, but if it does he won't take anyone with him.

Do you feel like the NFL isn't the bad guy here? If so, why?

It's infuckingcomprehensible. Maybe he's got a job lined up with the league or something.

Surely it can both.

If no one else had ever seen the video they'd have gotten away with it. I don't know how they thought in this day and age that the video wouldn't leak though.

Because clearly the NFL is above bending (it's only breaking if you get caught, whoops) the law in all cases.

The refs didn't call it, nobody else has said anything about it., besides a few fans. I mean maybe it was? If so nobody seems to care though.

It looked like he had no interest in Sherman's side of the field. 0-0-0-0 is pretty much the best possible defensive line though, so obviously that intimidated him.

Why? Throwing can wait when you've got the legs to move. I mean as they slow down sure they'll throw more, but why give up such a potent move?

Sherman isn't unchallengeable, but he's very good. If you don't put your best man on him, he's going to intercept.

Because football teams are coached by people who think of the players as children. Not that the players have a sterling record of not acting like children.

If and when the team he's on wins the Bowl he'll be 'the first openly gay member of a Bowl winning team'. Why does that suck?

Yeah, but maybe he's too 'sweet' for them. (Fuck Chris Culliver forever.)

Different contexts mostly. Minorities speak to each other in a different way than we'd speak to someone who wasn't a minority. Someone from the majority giving a minority a hard time is hard to take out of the context of the majority/minority relationship.

Good luck making this argument on a sports board. Not that you're wrong.

I got the impression he just had a face he put on for all interviews and gave the same (kinda bullshit but understandably so) interview regardless of whether the reporter was from NYT or the National Enquirer.
