Objection! Badgering the witness!
Am I the only one here that actually likes these grill swaps?
I still track where my old Mazda3 is. When I got rid of it for my ST, turns out the new owner moved less than a mile where I lived, so I saw it every once in a while. He put different wheels on it (looked awful) and messed up my MS3 cat-back.
ALWAYS hand your keys to someone and get a receipt. Usually the smaller locales are better at this I find. After one mishap with a Budget rental years ago, I will either drop it off while they’re open or go back the following day when they open to get my receipt and give them their keys.

My wife’s been driving a late-model CR-V with a rear hatch like that for almost 8 years now (6 years with her first one before the current one) and we’ve never once complained about the rear door opening from the side. Must be in the minority.
Just to add to your first question, the majority of off-lease vehicles will come through an auction sale as well.
