@AlphaJarmel: I can't tell you how many times I've been reading a post and enjoying the poster's well formed argument only to have it end with "you moron". My cursor was poised over the thumbs-up right until that point. Simply making a good argument does not exempt someone from being a troll if they are also

@MikeSWelch: But there are now more viable competitors in the ebook market. When Amazon opened the Kindle store, they were able to gain a lot of market share by pricing many books at a loss. The smaller competitors couldn't do that. Now most big publishers aren't letting them do that and they have to compete against

@PierceTheVin: Sadly there are still some authors out there that won't allow their publishers to release ebook versions. Rowling is one of the most high-profile ones. She thinks it will lead to piracy. What she doesn't seem to get is that there are plenty of digital copies floating around on the interwebs. She's just

@Aaron Martin-Colby: Of course they're going to spin their numbers in the best light. What marketeer doesn't? I'm guessing "hardcover books Amazon.com has sold" means specifically ones sold by their company, not Amazon sellers. By Amazon.com means by the company rather than on Amazon.com which would include all

@cosmic Wy: LOL. That must be why every soccer mom I know has one. Not that I don't know plenty of cool people who own them, too, but it's not exactly edgy now is it?

@Ccomfort: I wasn't asking so I could try to convince him he's wrong. I want to know what the important features were to him.

@Lightbourn: So far it's the best coverage I've found in my area but I'm still debating if it's worth the extra money I pay. It's good but I could save $40/month for our two phones with T-Mobile or Sprint. Is it worth almost $500 a year to get five bars in my house? I'm not sure. I might see if T-Mobile has a phone I

@HardwareWars: So out of curiosity, what's the lure for the iPhone? What ways do you feel it beats out Android?

@Shanfara: I went from AT&T to Sprint and they were quite good. I wanted a new phone after awhile and I didn't like any of their offerings at the time so I switched to Verizon. The service is a little better than Sprint. I don't know if it's worth the huge jump in price, though I like getting 5 bars in my house. I've

@iElvis: I wouldn't mind the Facebook integration if it was easy to filter off the display. I have an Android phone and it frustrates me that the groups I create in my Gmail aren't filters I can apply to my contacts display.

@adoringava: If this is their near-release-candidate, technical preview version, then I would be very surprised to see two new features, one of which is a pretty major change, in the final product. We could see that in a 2.0, but RC by definition is feature complete. Besides, if they were planning on adding two

@mricyfire: I dumped AT&T slightly pre-iPhone because of quality issues. I dropped calls and missed calls all the time. I would be in places where I had plenty of bars but my phone wouldn't ring and I often didn't get voicemail notifications for days. Then I'd get a call, hang up, and immediately get a notification

@TD99: I don't wish everyone did. Those folks are our guinea pigs.

@tracdoor: One of our problems here in the US is that are trains are practically empty. They're slower and more expensive than driving most places. They're subsidized but not enough to make them cheap enough to get people out of their cars.

@AgentSamosa: Not all libraries offer Overdrive ebook service and many don't have much selection but mine is pretty decent. Officially, the books time out after a few weeks. Both Mobipocket and Adobe DRM can handle this sort of temporary license. The books are either in Mobipocket with its DRM or in Epub or PDF with

@shilo101: Yep. Overnight is $3.99 per item and two-day shipping is free.

@shilo101: Yep. Especially if you're like me and have family and friends that live far away. Most of the gifts I buy have to be shipped. This lets me procrastinate without fear.

@Realityism ▲: AZW is basically Mobipocket format. Epub and Mobi convert back and forth quite well. Most of Amazon's books are AZW. There are a handful that are Topaz which is kind of like a visual scan that is OCRed for indexing purposes. I've heard it's strippable but I don't know how well it converts. I've never

@Dynamiks: I thought the new firmware sped it up quite a bit. Is it still that bad?

@vincent9: I find I actually read more and buy fewer books than I did before. Of course, I already did buy a lot of books. There are the free classics, plus I get ebooks from my library. I have to convert them but it's pretty easy. Plus the free samples have saved me from buying plenty of books I didn't like.
