@InsanePenguin: Yep. I don't have the gap between books I used to have because it's so easy to get new stuff but it's not like I was ambivalent about reading before. It was a no-brainer for me buying the Kindle when it first debuted at $400. It was well worth it. I bought it for the convenience but it also ended up

@InsanePenguin: You can but that really slows things down. The 6" is great for novels but this would be way better for my tech books and work documents.

@jblues: I think the screen is still more than $50 at this point but I'm sure that would be a winner if they could do it. Even $100 would get a lot of takers. I agree on the 7" screen, too. The reading area would be closer to a paper book.

@Jakooboo, Hoon Master.: The larger screens cost disproportionately more since they're not produced in nearly the volume as 6" screens.

@Fedaykin: Just because they're killing the project doesn't mean they don't want to unload existing inventory.

@Mike Wiltse: Does Whispersync work on them or is it only for books bought from Amazon?

@Harpsichord: I'm guessing he's doing it to have the books in his online library.

@nczuma: Calibre is a great free option for converting ebooks.

@mordicai: I call that "magic" a DRM stripping script.

@James Sorensen: You can strip Adept DRM, too. In fact, most ebook DRM schemes have been circumvented.

@DirtyDogg: And it usually does. Granted, though, if it's Adobe's Adept, it's a less onerous DRM.

@kernelRiot: Not terribly. I have a lamp on my night table and if my husband's asleep, I use a clip on thingie. It's not as convenient as something that's built in but it's easy enough and doesn't hurt my eyes the way a lit screen does when I'm tired.

@bonedog73: Plus crap beans make crap coffee especially when you burn them first.

@Capt-Amazing: Well there's no in-app purchasing so you could enter your password in the app and he'd have access to the library but couldn't buy stuff. However, most books have 6 licenses only so you might want to hang on to some. Personally, I strip the DRM off my books so I can archive them, but if the goal is to

@Harpsichord: Like Capt-Amazing said, I think it's 14 days. Also the book can only be lent once.

@magus-21: I replied with a link to their faq below.

@kavka: I didn't say anything about consequences. I was talking about intent which I do believe goes to the heart of whether an action is selfish or not. Since he didn't think he was taking a chance at all, I don't see his choice as selfish. A bit naive and overly-optimistic, sure, a bit fanboyish, but not selfish.

@eatamez2: I find that so surprising since they already have an Android-based reader. Sure, they'd have to make a new UI but so much of their work is already done.
