@CapitalOrange: A crushable EPS liner, like in motorcycle helmets, could accomplish this wonderfully. Unfortunately, EPS does not regenerate or decompress, so after each play anyone who hit their helmet against something would need a new helmet.

@philphil: Also, to stop any grammatical allusions. When you 'wrecked her ass', you want to be thinking about a car, not a girl. (well, depending.)

@a4x4ver: I think we can all agree, somehow the cost for all this will be funneled down onto the middle class, as it should be.

Somehow, this phone will pop up out of a sewer grate in New York.

Confirm or deny: a friend of a friend who is a Merc tech says that brake *pads* from the factory for the SLR cost $30,000. I said he must have meant $3000, but no, he meant 30k.

I would not surprised to learn that the majority of these cars were purchased as investment holdings for money firms that collect and store hard assets as a hedge against the stock market; many special edition motorcycles end up the same way.

@dry guy: Unfortunately, after CARB fulfilled it's mandate by cleaning the air, to continue existing (and getting paid) they were forced to file more and increasingly specific restrictions to remain relevant.

@OMGItsWeasel: RIP SCC. The magazine had the balls to tell the reader that installing a turbo was actually hard and expensive and not exact science, instead of acting as a clearing house for 'bolt ons' photographed by import tooner models with 'bolt ons'.

@jzEllis: "whether it be state or federal gov, somebody needs to be lobbying the gov on behalf of us. as a collection of "car guys" how can anyone have an issue with that?"

@maximum_sarge: I'm interested in this, as well. There are trade-offs when you get around 600 horsepower. I wouldn't be surprised if most of these cars required very constant attention from the tuners they come from to remain viable.

@06Limer: Me neither. I really respect mathletes though. I understand the appeal.

I laughed. Good article, would read again, A+++++ L@@K

@anthromt: I think the bell curve goes like this: Cheap car, easy to test drive (dealer wants you to buy it)

@Smeagol92055: Let me lay out my point of view, and then tell me if it's salient or not:

@Taurus_McGee: Because, as I'm not Christian, I don't want leaders that would legislate against me as a non-Christian.

Wow, look at Thince Vaugn up there. Why is his gullet inflating over time? Is he becoming George Lucas?

@Fd3rsrz: Where's your aluminum beanie? Grow up. Google's a business.
